iOS

My iOS application has quit working or will not start up?

You should first try closing the app in multi-tasking and/or doing a soft reset of the device. To do a soft reset you hold the power and front buttons on your device until the "slide to power off" slider appears. This does not erase your device but simply shuts if off which clears the memory and can help in some situations. Turn it back on with the power button.

If this does not work you can try uninstalling the application completely from your device, and then re-downloading it from the AppStore. The button in the AppStore will still say "buy" but you are not charged again for an app you already purchased.

Note: If you have Extreme Agenda, you may want to backup your task and event extenstion sqlite database using the iTunes file sharing before removing it to attempt re-installing.

For Extreme Agenda and Extreme Calendar, we have a couple other things you can try. If you try running it more than once and this happens the program is designed to write a file called xastartup.log that we can use to try and figure out your problem. Get it by using File Sharing in iTunes(bottom of the Apps page while device connected), and email it to us to see if it can help.

Using the same iTunes file sharing you can put on the device, into the app folder, one or both of these files(nocontacts.marker or smallcontacts.marker). These files basically limit the use of your contact database by the program, nocontacts.marker will actually shut it off completely, to see if the startup issue is caused by problems cacheing all of your contacts or a particular one. We suggest only putting in smallcontacts.marker first as that will make startup slightly longer than normal, but will continue to offer contact related features.

As of Version 2.16 a lot less information may be cached on startup. If you were using one of the the above .marker files. You may want to be sure to shut off coverflow, and then close down the app(multi-tasking too), and remove the .marker file, and then reload and see if the problem is fixed. Try smallcontacts.marker again if having to re try. The contact coverflow uses more memory, and as such can be problematic for people with memory problems. These issues are mostly all caused by your app running out of memory as we cache the events, tasks, and contacts in your system. Some people have a lot more information than their system can handle.

How do I backup my task and event extension database in Extreme Agenda?

The XAiOS.sqlite file is a database that contains important information that Extreme Agenda uses. It contains all of your task information along with event extension information including what categories, status, and icons are assigned to particular events. Note: The events themselves are retrieved from the iCal calendar database that the default calendar also uses. All List information is saved in a file called jotlist.sqlite which can similarly be backed up.

In Extreme Agenda you can us the Dropbox functionality to backup your XAiOS.sqlite database. See the help system for more information.

Otherwise you can use iTunes file sharing to backup this file to your main computer. Hook up your device to your computer and then in iTunes you will be able to select this device on the left. Then in the 'Apps' section you will see at the bottom of the page all applications that allow file sharing. Select Extreme Agenda and then you should see the XAiOS.sqlite file. Use "Save to.." to copy it to your computer.

To go back to a saved database using file sharing, make sure your app is closed(including multi-tasking) and then simply use the file sharing screen's "Add.." button to copy the backed up file over the existing one on your device.

Note: This can be used even with App startup problems.

I have sent you money via Paypal but have not recieved my registration code, how long should this take?

We try to fill these orders as quickly as possible, so it should be within 2 business days at the absolute longest. It is usually more like 4-6 hours. If it has been longer than this, chances are your spam filter has grabbed our reply. Please allow email from 'brian @ birdsoft.net' as well as 'birdiestyle @ yahoo.com' and check your spam filter before inquiring via email. A lot of times people also are not checking the email address they have registered with Paypal, be sure this is not the case as well.

I paid for the full version and downloaded it but it is still the demo?

All of Birdsoft's software is shareware. So the demo versions available for download on this site are all the most current versions of the software, and the full version. Once you pay for the software you are given a password which unlocks the full version of the program you have installed. Simply enter your password and/or your name into the About box or registration screen of that application and you are ready to go.

And once you have paid for the software, you can download updated versions of the software here for FREE(Major Upgrades to certain products do not apply). Download these same demo files, and install them over the existing software on your Pocket PC. Simply check your Application's about box for a version number and check that number with the current version listed here or at one of our resellers, if it is newer then download and install it.

I see you have a Demo Download available on the page for the software on your site. How do I get the full version?

Windows Mobile

I run the application and it says 'not a valid CE Application'?

If you downloaded an executable file from us, this is an install program for a desktop computer. It uses Active-sync to then install the program onto your Windows Mobile device. Note: This does not mean that the program is incompatible with your device, it means the Installation program only runs on a desktop!

I run the install and it brings up the ActiveSync Dialog for Add/Remove Programs, but does not start installing your application. What is going wrong?

Our older Programs are shipped in a Zip file. Some Zip programs(including Windows XP) do not automatically Extract all Files from the Zip file, when you try to run setup.exe from within the file. You should try unzipping ALL the files into a temporary directory, so the setup.exe can see the .cab and setup(.ini) files, in order to complete the install.
